2025 Chevy vs Ford: Rust Already?! 😳

Frame rust is a REAL issue here in Canada, especially with the salt, brine, and harsh winter conditions we deal with every year. So I decided to put two brand new 2025 half-ton trucks up on the hoist — the Ford F-150 and the Chevy 1500 — to see how they’re holding up underneath. Both trucks have relatively low mileage, but the difference in frame condition is pretty eye-opening. Ford continues to use a painted frame, while GM sticks with a wax-style coating. And from what I’m seeing, that coating just doesn’t seem to hold up nearly as well in real-world conditions. The F-150 still looks almost brand new underneath, aside from a few small chips and minor surface rust — which is totally normal. But the Chevy? It’s already showing much heavier rust across the frame, and honestly… it’s surprising for such a new truck. This isn’t about brand loyalty — it’s about what actually holds up over time, especially if you live in a climate like this.
