He turned Titan II nuclear missile silo into 3-story underground home

In 2010, GT Hill paid $90,000 for an abandoned, flooded Titan II Cold War missile complex buried in the Arkansas hills. He called the outlandish project Titan Ranch: the idea was to create a homestead for the ages. He didn't know exactly what he was getting into... the government had sealed it, flooded it, and walked away. Hill spent the next fifteen years digging it back out and building it into a massive underground home. What Hill calls "Modern Archeology" started with excavating decades of concrete, scrap iron, gravel, and water from a structure the government had buried and forgotten. Then came the real challenge: learning to build inside what is essentially a suspended house. The entire living quarters hangs on eight massive shock-absorption springs — Cold War engineering designed to survive nuclear blast — and Hill had to master underground plumbing, suspended flooring, and walls that don't quite touch each other, from scratch. He wanted it for his family. His kids grew up while he was still digging, and have since spent nights in what might be the coolest teenage bedrooms on earth. The home GT Hill envisioned took fifteen years longer than any of them expected. It feels like the lair of a superhero, or a supervillain.
