Join @JuanSharks in the Maldives next month (link in this post) to freedive and scuba dive with tiger sharks while learning about their behavior in one of the only places in the world where we can guarantee you’ll see tiger sharks—many of them. This video and safety information are important to share because if someone ever finds themselves in this situation (which happens more often to spearfishers and shark divers), I would want them to know techniques that may help reduce their chances of being injured. While these encounters can happen during intentional shark dives, accidents don’t help anyone—including the sharks. These tips come from decades of experience in the water. Keep in mind that maneuvering, turning with the sharks, and adapting to their movements is much easier for experienced divers. That said, the only way to gain experience is by spending time in the ocean, and if you’re lucky, you may encounter a shark at any time. Encounters like this can happen while diving around whales, dolphins, other marine life, in the open ocean, or even close to shore. My goal is to help people coexist more peacefully with sharks by understanding and adapting to their behavior, reducing the likelihood of negative interactions. Staying calm and responding appropriately is far better than panicking or swimming away quickly, which can increase a shark’s curiosity or trigger a predatory response. I’d love to go into species-specific details, but that isn’t possible here. I cover much more through my online course, free educational videos on my website, and my book, What You Should Know About Sharks. Even those resources must generalize because there are more than 400 shark species, and I’ve personally worked with just over 30 around the world. Please always dive with an experienced shark safety specialist for your safety and the sharks ❤️🦈 The team @OneOceanDiving takes people out seven days a week to learn about shark safety and conservation. ❤️🦈❤️ #TigerShark, #TigerSharks, #Shark, #Sharks, #SharkDiving, #SharkDive, #Freediving, #ScubaDiving, #Maldives, #DiveMaldives, #TigerSharkDive, #SharkEducation, #SharkSafety, #SharkConservation, #OceanConservation, #MarineConservation, #OceanEducation, #MarineLife, #OceanLife, #Underwater, #UnderwaterPhotography, #UnderwaterVideo, #OceanAdventure, #DiveAdventure, #BigAnimals, #ApexPredator, #RespectSharks, #ProtectSharks, #SaveSharks, #Coexist, #CoexistWithSharks, #SharkBehavior, #SharkResearch, #OceanResearch, #MarineScience, #CitizenScience, #DiveWithPurpose, #OceanAwareness, #BluePlanet, #HealthyOcean, #HealthySharksHealthyOcean, #Freedive, #Scuba, #DiveLife, #OceanLover, #OceanLovers, #SeaLife, #MarineBiology, #Wildlife, #WildlifePhotography, #Nature, #Conservation, #Education, #Adventure, #Travel, #BucketList, #DreamDive, #OpenOcean, #Pelagic, #OceanExplorer, #ExploreMore, #DiveTravel, #FreediveLife, #ScubaLife, #Diver, #DiversOfInstagram, #OceanCommunity, #SharkWeekEveryWeek, #RespectWildlife, #WildAndFree, #OceanIsLife, #ProtectTheOcean, #SaveOurOcean, #MarineEcosystem, #OceanSteward, #SharkAwareness, #SharkFacts, #OceanPhotography, #FreediveAdventure, #ScubaAdventure, #SharkEncounter, #TigerSharkEncounter, #OceanExperience, #DiveIntoTheBlue, #OceanConnection, #OceanGuardian, #OceanInspiration, #OneOcean, #OneOceanDiving, #JuanSharks, #OceanRamsey, #WhatYouShouldKnowAboutSharks, #SharkSpecialist, #OceanSafety, #DiveSafe, #LearnFromNature, #MarineProtection, #OceanAdvocate, #SharkLove, #OceanOptimism
