Oregon's US Highway 97 — (High Desert Road Trip) to Bend

Heck Yeah! Today we're rolling north on US Highway 97 from Crater Lake all the way to Bend, Oregon — one of the great high desert drives in the American West! We cruise through the small towns of Chemult, Crescent, and La Pine, watching the landscape shift from volcanic forest to open pine country. Then we pull off for a stop that seriously impressed me — the High Desert Museum just south of Bend. This place is VERY well done, folks — live wildlife on display, incredible exhibits, and worth every minute. The next morning, we head out on Highway 20 to the Three Sisters mountain viewpoint for one of the best mountain views in all of Oregon. Three snow-capped volcanic peaks lined up like they're posing for the camera! If you love backroads, small towns, and big mountain scenery, this one's for you.
