⚠️ Disclaimer / Read First: The procedures described below involve directly flashing the EEPROM of your J500 Steering Assist module. Flashing the wrong file (for example, mixing ZF files with APA-BS racks) or experiencing a voltage drop during the process WILL permanently brick your steering rack. You assume all responsibility. Before attempting this, you must thoroughly read and understand the processes outlined in these essential Drive2 threads (use a translator if necessary): https://www.drive2.ru/l/4842693/ https://www.drive2.ru/l/468497232744677412/ https://www.drive2.ru/l/538914630311870716/ 🛠️ My Flashing Process & The "Wipe" File: You will often read that you must flash the lh002... (wipe/format) file before applying the main firmware update. However, because my factory ZF Gen 3 rack's part number already started with the 1K0 prefix, and the target firmware also uses the 1K0 prefix, I decided to skip the wipe file. I directly flashed lh0013501.sgo to update my firmware to v3501. The process was completely smooth and successful. 📊 Parameter (Kennlinien) Testing & Impressions: After updating the firmware on my MK6 GTI, I tested several .sgo parameter files to find the perfect steering feel. Here are my real-world impressions based on the PQ35 geometry: Original GTI (Parameter 74): Way too stiff at low speeds. It makes one-handed city driving and parking unnecessarily difficult and uncomfortable. Audi RS3 Parameter: The stiffness feels very similar to the factory 74 GTI parameter. However, it has a very "lazy" return to center; it gathers itself back to the zero point too slowly after exiting a corner. I did not like it at all. Audi TTS Parameter: This one tries very aggressively to hold the steering wheel dead center. Despite that, it remains just as stiff as the RS3/GTI parameters at low speeds. It did not solve my city driving comfort issue. Audi TTRS Parameter (My Choice & The Winner): This was the perfect balance I was looking for! At low speeds (city driving/parking), the steering becomes incredibly soft and smooth, making one-handed driving effortless. But as soon as you hit highway speeds, it becomes much stiffer and heavier than all the other parameters I tested. The high-speed stability is phenomenal. This is the one I am keeping. 💡 Crucial Pre-Flash & Post-Flash Steps: Before you begin flashing, connect with VCDS, open 44 - Steering Assist, and write down your Adaptation values—specifically Channel 003 (DSR) and Channel 009. After the flash is complete, the module will forget its limit stops and angles. You must restore your adaptation channels, perform the G85 Steering Angle Sensor calibration, and complete the Steering Limit Stop adaptation (turning full left, full right, then center). If you skip this, your yellow steering wheel error light will not turn off. Hope this helps anyone looking to optimize their PQ35 steering dynamics!
