The Rise and Fall of Officer Charity Taylor Mobley 1/5 Charity Taylor Mobley | Cecil Police Department Former Cecil Police Department officer Charity Taylor Mobley saw her law enforcement career come to an end after allegations of illegal drug use triggered an internal investigation in 2022. According to records obtained through the Georgia Open Records Act, Cecil Police Chief J.R. Eaton documented that the department received an anonymous complaint alleging Mobley was using illegal drugs. Her employment with the department ended shortly thereafter, and the case was referred to the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council. Following its investigation, Georgia POST permanently revoked Mobley's Basic Law Enforcement, Radar Operator, and LIDAR Operator certifications, ending her ability to serve as a certified peace officer in Georgia. Her career included employment with seven different law enforcement agencies across the state before her certification was revoked, including the Glynn County Police Department, Lanier County Sheriff's Office, Homerville Police Department, Moultrie Police Department, Boston Police Department, Sparks Police Department, and finally the Cecil Police Department. The case also highlights the challenges of obtaining disciplinary records through open records requests, requiring persistent follow-up before the public could learn how the investigation unfolded.
