HDMI Monitor Not Detected After Sleep? Here’s the Fix

Sometimes after waking a laptop from sleep mode, an external monitor connected via HDMI is no longer detected. The cable is plugged in, the monitor is on, but there’s no signal. Disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable or restarting the monitor doesn’t help. In this video, I show a simple and reliable fix for this issue on Windows. The problem usually comes from the graphics driver not re-initializing properly after sleep mode. Instead of restarting the laptop or opening Device Manager every time, I demonstrate how to quickly reset the display adapter using a PowerShell script.
